Back to Black

Black is the most underrated colour. Black is often viewed as the colour of evil, the shadow of hopeless, the symbol of death and grievance. Black is the colour of lies, annihilation, the colour of the wrecked and broken who were left to rue. Even when the term "Back to Black " was coined, they undoubtedly must have had the similar idea about black.

Black is also the colour of past. The past of regrets, the past of forgettable, acrid memories.
But, why does black was chosen as the colour of hopeless? Why it has drawn the hatred in unison from the rest of the world?

Maybe, after all, it's just an idea, a symbol, a victim of all the lies, regrets, mishap, annihilation, death caused by the rest.

We live in a world which have been waiting long enough to embrace the dystopian era with fear as a disguise. What they have not been realized yet is that it has been a dystopian world they were living in, ever since. They say they want the world to be beautiful. They say they would stand united to make the world beautiful. But how true they are? The truth is, everyone loves to have that bleaky, noir patch in each other's lives. They find beauty in sensing the ambiguity of lives we are thrown into. They seek truth- the plain white truth! Ever since mankind has been born they were searching for truth- the answers to all the unknown, ready to open their eyes to see the truth. They feared the unknown. They painted those unknown insecurities black. How suitable? It goes hand in hand with darkness. They refused to be blind. But,were they really seeking the truth? The answers? The plain white light of truth? NO!!

They romanced black in secret just as one would do to his mistress. He would claim his morality out in the light, dumping the "black" romance he had with her, probably only in the dark. But even when one stand for morality and express how he loathe darkness, it is darkness which gives him an alibi from the insecurities, which the truth gives him.

Just as they were ready to open their eyes to the light of truth, they loved to be blind because the responsibilities which truth demanded were always too much for them to handle whereas black offered only one - the plain darkness, in unison - to the chaos the white truth gave them. They seeked answers to the questions related to the unknown. But, ironically, the dark truth is that they never wanted answers. All they were seeking all along was the answers which they already had in them and they manipulated the unknown to how they wanted it to be. The battles were never because of the darkness. It was never between the light vs dark, as everyone loved to put it in, romantically. All the wars, the battles, were fought in the name of the light of power - neither against the darkness of injustice nor for the oppressed, as claimed. The light started every war and the darkness was a silent scapegoat.

We, humans, are prone to fall into oblivion. We see it as a bridge - to the perennial joy or wreckage. All the same, we hated wrath and called for the return of innocence, we waited for black - the darkness. It is an irony. We wanted the cremation of our own hopes. We found joy and heroism in death - the imminent end. All this for the white plain truth and against the injustices of absolute black darkness? I wonder! The plain white truth is that the colour of truth was never white. It was always black. The ever-loathed absolute darkness. Just as there are several injustices and only one truth - all the colours, which are celebrated for the removal of darkness, were the prophets of lies, and black stood firmly for the truth - ready to be hated but never to compromise on its values.

It's just like the difference between learning and realization. We have learned that the world is filled with injustices but we have never realized that we were fighting the wrong battle, the opposite one -
for the devil of white light and for other colours which could easily attributed with the qualities of devil's sidekicks - persuasive and beautiful.

Its hightime we should throw ourselves upon the darkness of realization. It may not be beautiful, it may not be attractive. But its the truth - the black truth. Lets fight for it. Lets go back to black!
