Review: Clairevoyant

Clairevoyant is a mirror. A mirror which is held  towards the current generation, exposing their ugliness unapologetically.  There is no doubt that many of us can often find our own reflections in it.
The writer and the director, Arthur De Larroche and Micaela Wittman are trying to portray the present generation, who are detached from the  reality, shirking from their responsibilities, not counting the  blessings and seeking the highest level of enlightenment  beyond their reach without ever caring to seek the answers themselves. The hard truth is that most of them, obsessed with the idea of enlightenment,  are willing to take the path shown by the vultures of the society, blindly following these spiritual gurus and self proclaimed enlightened souls. Our main character Claire is a representative of that generation. At first glance, one cannot spot any problems in her life.  She has a family that supports her financially though she is clearly detached from them. She accepts such handouts and is being openly ungrateful for it. She is preparing for her journey to salvation and universal truth.  Her goal is to document her journey and  thereby bring a lot of people into the light of life through her documentary. She is accompanied on this exciting  journey  by her  friend and cameraman, Earl. While on the journey she meets a lot of people, a bunch of weirdos  who proclaims themselves to be the flag bearers of spirituality and seeks advice from all of them.Claire firmly believes that everything they say will lead to the light of spirituality,if she follow their instructions without doubting. She realises her foolishness at times  but decides to   continue her journey till she reach the eventual goal of enlightenment.
The spirit of this movie is in the journey and the realizations and developments that take place in the life of Claire through the course of it.Micaela Wittman who co wrote and co directed and also playing the central character of Claire has done an excellent job. The movie takes its route through satire to speak with the audience and finds enormous success at it. It poses more questions than the answers it provides but all of them are important and right  ones.
